GRANT WOODSCO-CONCEIVER

A civic leader and artist, Grant Woods was Arizona’s Attorney General and senior aide to Senator John McCain. Woods’ brand of centrist Republican beliefs lost its place following the election of Donald Trump. Devoted to his mentor and friend John McCain and reflecting McCain’s mantra of country over party, Woods endorsed both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden during their presidential runs. Woods was also a successful playwright and songwriter. His play The Things We Do premiered in Los Angeles and his songs have been recorded by many top artists including Nils Lofgren. Woods died unexpectedly in 2021 — just as he was creating a framework for Ghost of John McCain. He left behind his wife, Marlene Galán-Woods, and five children, Austin, Lauren, Cole, Dylan, and Ava. The most important thing Grant would want you in the audience to know is that John McCain was a hero, a public servant who always fought for his country, and, like Grant, would want us all to get in the arena and do what’s right, regardless of party or personal gain.
